The Meghalaya Environmental Social Organisation (MESO) along with the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) distributed a large quantity of clothes, toys, books and footwear among the children of the residents of Jhalupara in Shillong. The programme was aimed at the downtrodden children of the community. Members of MESO and NPYF handed the items to the children individually.

Mebanri Laloo, CEO of MESO said, “This attempt might not alleviate all their problems, but may decrease their sufferings to a little extent.”  Also present at the event was Thrangki Pohshna, president of the NPYF. Thrangki Pohshna delivered a short speech stating “The children of Meghalaya are the future of the state and as youth president I wish that all the children in the state are given an equal opportunity in life to realsie their full potential.”

There were a total of 83 children present at the event. The local community was very forthcoming and supportive of the activity organised by MESO and NPYF. Other members present at the event were Amarjeet Singh, Muhammad Majid Ahmed, Roshini Kachari, Maqsood Ahmed and Phrangkupar Mawlong of NPYF. Noorun Mehraj Warjri, Secretary of MESO was also present at the event.
