National People’s Party (NPP) candidate WR Kharlukhi won the Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma thanked the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) partners for bestowing their support to the NPP candidate.

“Congratulations #DrWRKharlukhi for being elected to the #RajyaSabha from #Meghalaya. I thank all the MDA partners for bestowing their support to the National People’s Party,” Sangma tweeted.

 

“Heartiest congratulations to #DrKharlukhi for being elected to the #RajyaSabha from #Meghalaya,” tweeted Meghalaya food supplies minister James Sangma.

“We look forward to you serving the people of #Meghalaya and we are confident that the State will immensely benefit from your knowledge, experience and commitment,” the tweet added.

 

Eight states on Friday voted for 19 Rajya Sabha seats, which began t 9 am and concluded at 4 pm.

Polling took place in  Gujarat (4 seats), Andhra Pradesh (4 seats), Rajasthan (3 seats), Jharkhand (2 seats), Manipur (1 seat), Meghalaya (1 seat) and Mizoram (1 seat).
