There are no inputs about the presence of camps of Northeast rebel groups in Bangladesh.
This was informed by Inspector General (IG) of Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier – Hardeep Singh.
BSF IG Hardeep Singh said that as per information relayed to the BSF by the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), there are no camps of any insurgent outfit in Bangladesh.
“BGB has informed us there are no camp of Northeast rebels in Bangladesh,” said BSF IG Hardeep Singh.
Hardeep Singh further claimed that the BSF do not have any specific information about the presence of camps of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) in the neighbouring Country.
Meanwhile, IG of BSF’s Meghalaya Frontier Hardeep Singh expressed hope that the fencing work of the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya will be completed within a year.

“Fencing of about 70 percent of the total 443 kilometers of the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya has been completed. However there are few areas where BSF will seek clearance from the BGB for fencing construction to continue,” informed Hardeep Singh.
“There are 13 patches where fencing needs to be constructed beyond 150 yards of the international border,” he added.
As per international border rules, fencing on either side of the border should be erected 150 yards away from the main point.
The BSF IG further informed that smugglers use the unfenced portions of the international border to smuggle cattle and other goods.
