Guwahati: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has reiterated its commitment to re-examining its priority list, with a focus on implementing the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Meghalaya.

Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon assured that the party will address the ILP issue, among other 24-point agenda items, without specifying a timeline.

This comes after the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) warned the government of taking matters into their own hands by enforcing ILP, citing inaction from both central and state authorities.

The KSU has vowed to garner support from local indigenous communities and continue its crusade against illegal immigrants in various areas.

It may be mentioned that ILP has been a long-term demand in Meghalaya as well as a political agenda for several parties.

However, the implementation has not yet been done despite a series of protests over the years.
