Hostel of Don Bosco School in Meghalaya’s Tura has been turned into a containment zone.
The hostel of Don Bosco School located at Lower Wadanang in Tura of West Garo Hills was turned into a containment zone on Monday.
The decision of turning the Don Bosco School hostel into a containment zone was taken after 20 new COVID-19 cases were detected against “high-risk” contact testing.
The students of the hostel were tested for COVID-19 after a driver of the school’s bus was found positive for the deadly virus.
Interestingly, the bus driver had no travel history.
20 out of 45 students in the Don Bosco School hostel in Tura were found positive for COVID-19 after tests were carried out.
Notably, most of the 20 students who tested positive for COVID-19 are from the age group of 12-15 and asymptomatic.

West Garo Hills district medical and health officer has shot off a letter to the Deputy Commissioner seeking extension of surveillance and contact tracing.
COVID-19 testing were conducted for the teachers and other staff of the school on Tuesday, update for which is still awaited.
Notably, this is the first major surge in COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya since lockdown norms were eased.

It may be mentioned here that the cluster of COVID-19 cases have been detected in Meghalaya’s Tura in West Garo Hills district, at a time, when political parties in the State are carrying on with hectic campaigning for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
