The Meghalaya government has urged all the 60 MLAs to utilise fund from the MLA scheme for the year 2020-21 to help the people during this lockdown period.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that all the 60 MLAs of the state can utilise the fund from the MLA scheme to make sure that they can help the people.

“Each MLA will be allowed to utilise the MLA scheme for the year 2020-21 up to Rs 25 lakh each,” Tynsong said.

On Sunday, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma urged all to extend financial support to help the needy during the 21-day lockdown and generously contribute towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

The chief minister tweeted: “Let’s all stand united to champion #COVID2019 and help one another especially during the #21daylockdown.”

“We are #StrongerTogether.”

The Meghalaya chief minister also requested the people to donate online.

He tweeted, “For online transfers please donate to: Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fundhttp://megcmrf.gov.in/index.htm.”

Meanwhile, in order to connect the farmers in the state to the consumers during the lockdown period, the Meghalaya government has also initiated measures.

“In our efforts to connect our farmers to consumers especially in this time of crisis, our iTEAMS and the NaRI team with the support of our DCs made essential commodities available to our citizens for purchase in different parts of the city and other locations in the State,” the CMO tweeted.
