The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) has decided to intensify its movement in regards to implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
This decision of the CoMSO comes against “Centre’s delay” in implementing the ILP in Meghalaya, which the pressure groups in the State have been demanding for a long time.
CoMSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin said: “We have decided to intensify our demand for ILP by calling for a statewide movement with direct action which will be visible in the days to come.”
Notably, the pressure groups in Meghalaya had expressed disappointment over the silence that union home minister Amit Shah maintained on the ILP issue during his recent visit to Shillong.

This decision was taken by the CoMSO during a meeting on Tuesday in Shillong.
The CoMSO has also decided to bring together all stakeholders including NGOs and traditional heads over the issue.
However, the organisation decided to keep political parties excluded for the movement.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has said home minister Amit Shah has assured to look into the demand of ILP implementation in the State.
