Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya has announced its decision to contest the upcoming Gambegre bye-election and is currently searching for a suitable candidate to represent the party.

According to AL Hek, a senior leader and Cabinet minister, several potential candidates have expressed interest in contesting the by-poll, and the party will conduct a survey to select the most eligible one.

State BJP vice president Bernard N Marak has already expressed his desire to contest from the seat.

A recent meeting in Tura discussed poll-related matters and outlined a roadmap for the election.

When asked about the potential competition from Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s wife, Mehtab Chandee, Hek expressed confidence, stating, “We will contest to win.”
