Patients in East Khasi Hills district are now in a difficult time as doctors of two hospitals in Shillong city, including the Civil Hospital and Nazareth Hospital, have tested positive for COVID19.

The latest doctor, who tested positive, according to the Meghalaya government, is a doctor from Nazareth Hospital.

However, no proper information was shared on the doctor from Nazareth Hospital unlike the doctor from Shillong Civil Hospital who tested positive.

In the case of the civil hospital’s doctor, the government shared proper information including the steps taken to contain the spread of the virus in the civil hospital.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War had only informed that among the 52 new positive cases detected on Friday, one is a doctor from Nazareth Hospital.

Unconfirmed sources said the doctor has been on leave for a few months now and is yet to resume duty in the hospital.

No staff of Nazareth Hospital could shed light on the doctor of the hospital who has reportedly tested “positive.”

Many suggested that the government or the authority of Nazareth Hospital should have informed the public properly, had the doctor been tested positive, and the kind of measures being taken to keep the people out of fear and confusion.

When contacted, no administrator of Nazareth Hospital was available.
