An FIR has been filed against 41 persons from Shillong, who attended a wedding party at Greenwood Resort in Guwahati, for allegedly violating the COVID-19 protocols.
The FIR was lodged by East Khasi Hills District Magistrate, Matsiewdor War Nongbri on Monday.
Superintendent of police, East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger confirmed that the FIR has been received by police the same has been forwarded to Sadar police station, Shillong.
The marriage party took place at Greenwood Resort in Guwahati on June 27 and another reception was held in Shillong on July 2.
At least 41 persons had attended the party at Greenwood Resort and two of them have tested positive for COVID-19.
Another 8 persons who were the high risk contacts of the two positive patients were also tested positive for COVID-19.
Police have registered the case at Sardar Police Station under appropriate sections of The Disaster management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, and Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases Covid19 Regulations, 2020.
