Shillong: Bodies of four men with hands and feet tied and cut marks in the neck has been found in a remote village in Meghalaya‘s East Jaintia Hills district.

Police said the four bodies were found on Saturday in a forest on the outskirts of Umpleng village in East Jaintia Hills district.

“The bodies were found by workers on Saturday morning. We are investigating the incident,” said East Jaintia Hills  SP Giri Prasad.

“We suspect that the victims were from outside the state but are not sure unless verification is completed,” he said.

The investigation is looking into two possibilities – the murders may have happened at the location where the bodies were found, or the victims were killed elsewhere and then transported to Umpleng, the SP added.
