Manipur Assam: Suspected robber injured in police firing while attempting to flee in Kokrajhar

Imphal: Three daily wage laborers were shot by unidentified gunmen in Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai in Manipur‘s Imphal West district, on Saturday night.

One laborer succumbed to his injuries, while two others are being treated at a local hospital. police said.

The deceased, identified as 41-year-old Sree Ram Hangsada from Jharkhand, was declared dead at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The injured, Bittu Murmu (22) and Mitalal Soran (50), both from Jharkhand, are receiving treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital, said a police official.

Police officials, including Imphal West District Superintendent of Police Kshetrimayum Shivakanta, rushed to the scene to investigate the incident.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility. Police have registered a case and are searching for the perpetrators.
