Five persons were arrested and Yaba tablets weighing 10.174 kg were seized during a joint operation carried out by a team of ANTF and Mawlai Police on Friday.
The vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-LC-4807 was travelling from Guwahati to Shillong when it was intercepted at Mawiongrim viewpoint.
The interception and the subsequent search was carried out after the team received confirmed information that the vehicle was used by drug peddlers for smuggling.
The Yaba tablets were recovered from the trolley bag of one Jiten Wairokpam Singh.
The others who were arrested include Akoijam Subhachandra Singh, Samphangso Shinglai, Nganba Wairokpham Chenglei and Nengneichong Lhanglal.
All of them are residents of Thoubal and Ukhrul districts of Manipur.
A case has been registered at Mawlai PS with case number 14(02) 2020 U/S 29/21 (c) under the NDPS Act.
