FIFA has unveiled the official mascot of the U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in India next year. 

The official mascot of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup is Ibha. 

Ibha is an Asiatic lioness that represents women power. 

Besides, the name Ibha has been derived from Khasi language, which is widely spoken in Meghalaya. 

Ibha, in Khasi language means Nari Shakti (women power).

Ibha aims to inspire women and girls across India and around the world to realise their potential, FIFA said in a statement. 

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma tweeted: “Super stoked to learn that @FIFAWorldCup has announced its official mascot for the U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 as ‘????’ derived from the #Khasi language of #Meghalaya representing #NariShakti or women power!”

The tournament will be held in India from October 11-30 next year. 

“Ibha is a strong, playful and charming Asiatic lioness that aims to inspire and encourage women and girls by using teamwork, resilience, kindness and empowering others,” said the statement by FIFA.
