Meghalaya home minister Lakhmen Rymbui, who had tendered his resignation from the post earlier this month, has said that chief minister Conrad Sangma is yet to accept his resignation.
“I will continue to look after the home department until my resignation is accepted by the chief minister,” Lahkmen Rymbui said.
Lahkmen Rymbui had stepped down as Meghalaya home minister following the violence that broke out in Shillong and adjoining areas after the death of HNLC leader Cheristerfield Thangkhiew on August 13.
Apart from the home department, Lahkmen Rymbui is also the minister of the Meghalaya education department.

Meanwhile, Rymbui slammed the Congress for accusing the UDP of “misusing home department” for alleged illegal tax collection.
He said that newly appointed Meghalaya Congress president Vincent Pala is making such accusations out of ‘frustration’.
“UDP never misuses any department for its benefit,” Lahkmen Rymbui said.
