The Meghalaya cabinet has decided to ink fresh lease agreement for 30 years with Maxim Infrastructure and Real Estate Pvt Ltd to complete the construction of a pending 5-star hotel in Shillong.
Earlier, the Meghalaya government had signed an agreement with HM Cements to build the 5-star hotel.
However, the construction has been pending for several years now, and the firm has to pay an amount of Rs 2.5 crores to the government.
After the cabinet meeting, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma informed that the state cabinet has approved signing of a fresh agreement with the new firm for a 30 years period and complete the project.
He said that the dues of the past firm should be paid to the government by the new firm which will sign the agreement.
He said that the new firm will also construct an office of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB).
“We want to complete this project in the interest of the people and tourism sector,” Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said.
