Votes polled in four polling stations under Tura Lok Sabha constituency and two under Shillong Lok Sabha constituency would be counted by counting the slips generated by the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs).
Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
Meghalaya chief electoral officer, F.R. Kharkongor on Friday said that the six polling stations, where slips generated by VVPATs would be counted, include four under Tura Lok Sabha constituency – Possengagre, Kochapara, Aminda Simsang (all under Gambegre Assembly constituency) and Dawar Katinggre (Williamnagar Assembly constituency) – and two under Shillong Assembly constituency – Nongpyndeng (Nongstoiñ Assembly seat) and Khliehrangnah (Raliang Assembly constituency).

“VVPAT slips in these six polling stations have to be counted because the presiding officers have forgotten to clear the data recorded in the voting machines when mock poll was conducted prior to the actual voting,” Kharkongor said.
Meanwhile, re-polling will be held at Konarchar polling station under Selsella Assembly constituency due to crisscrossing of EVMs during the polling held on Thursday.
No date has been fixed for conducting the re-poll in this polling booth.
Konarchar polling booth has a total of 712 voters.
People in this polling booth cast their votes in the voting machine meant for Lok Sabha poll instead of Assembly by-poll.
There were two EVMs, one for Assembly by-poll and another for Lok Sabha poll, since Selsella Assembly constituency went to by-poll simultaneously with the Lok Sabha election.
The problem occurred due to wrong connection of the voting machines by a presiding officer.
Selsella Assembly constituency recorded the highest turnout of voters at 92.20 per cent in both the by-poll and Lok Sabha poll on Thursday.
