It is three months now when Shillong erupted in violence over a petty matter involving the disputed sweepers’ colony or the Punjabi lane in the heart of the city.
Lots have been told and planned in the aftermath of the violent incidents, but the high level committee constituted to find out a solution into the relocation of sweepers’ colony, is yet to submit its recommendation to the Meghalaya Government and is still carrying on with the process of meeting with all the stakeholders before submitting its recommendations to the State Government.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and also the chairman of the high level committee, Preston Tynsong on Tuesday informed that the committee had met the Syiem of Hima Mylliem on Monday and many more meetings were lined up for the next week.
He said their primary objective is to find a lasting and permanent solution to the vexed and long-pending problem.
While interacting with media in Shillong on Tuesday, Tynsong said that once everything is planned out the recommendations will be forwarded to the government.
