The District Magistrate of East Jaiñtia Hills has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any person or group of persons from obstructing movement of trucks and commercial vehicles.
With the imposing of the order, illegal collection of money, donation from commercial vehicles, truck drivers and commuters have been restricted in East Jaintia Hills.
The order was necessitated based on written complaints from the members of the public passing through the National Highway via Kongong, Wapung Shnong, Wapung Skur, Mookhep, Lad Rymbai, Khliehriat area and Lumshnong.
Police also reported that there are miscreants, who claiming themselves to be members of NGOs, VDPs demand money from vehicles, truck drivers and commuters passing through NH-6 during night and loot them.

The order also warned checking of documents of commercial vehicles by NGOs, pressure groups, interested groups and other civil society organizations.
It also warned assembly of persons or group of persons with the objective to obstruct free flow of commercial vehicles especially during night time.
Carrying of arms and other lethal weapons, except by the security forces, along the NH-6 during night time has been strictly prohibited.
The order came into force with immediate effect, and shall remain in force until further orders.
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate, East Jaiñtia Hills also promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting illegal, rampant and mass killing of fish and aquatic life by using explosives, nets and poison in all rivers, streams throughout river Kupli under Saipung.
The order has been issued in view of the complaint received from the Acting Sordar Sumer Elaka regarding illegal and rampant killing of fish and aquatic life by use of explosives and poisons in river Kupli.
Sport activities and festival that could endanger the fish and aquatic life has also been prohibited.
The order has been imposed in order to prevent and contain the rampant killing of fish and prevent a danger to aquatic life and organism, and to secure balance food chain, and human consumption and sustainable growth in the aquatic life.
