Guwahati: In a bid to give adherence to the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020, the Meghalaya government will be coming up with ‘bag-less’ days in school.

The state education minister Rakkam A Sangma also informed that the school calendar for 2025 session will be notified in November.

The government is planning to have 10 themes for ‘bag less’ days in school, the minister said.

“The schools have been given the liberty to decide the days they wish to observe as bag-less ones,” the education minister said.

The minister further said that the details of the standard operating procedure (SOPs) for implementing ‘bag less’ days will be added to the notification.

The strategy and procedure for curating lesson plans will also be added to the subsequent notifications, the minister mentioned.

Sangma also said that the education department is also encouraging schools to take steps to ensure that they gradually move towards formative assessments as suggested by the NEP 2020.

He added the education department is serious about adopting formative assessments and schools have been encouraged to make the transition to such assessments.
