The Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) has urged upon the State Government for financial assistance for two kick boxers from the State to take part at the WAKO Cadets and Juniors World Kickboxing Championship, 2018 from September 15-23 at Jesolo Lido in Venice of Italy.

Interacting with media persons in Shillong on Tuesday, working president of MSKA, Lorenzo Warjri said that the two kick boxers from the State set to represent India are Ibadarishisha Mukhim (junior girls, below 48 kgs – full contact) and Nathaniel Pynbianglang Kurkalang (junior boys, below 60 kgs – K 1-Rule).

The two kick boxers have excelled in the sport and won medals for the State in the recently concluded WAKO India cadets juniors and senior National Kickboxing Federation Cup 2017-18 held from January 16-20 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi and WAKO India cadets-Juniors and senior National Kickboxing Championship held from September 6-10, 2017 at Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The working president of MSKA disclosed that the association players managed to bag as many as eight gold, five silver and 11 bronze medals at the recently concluded WAKO India cadets juniors and senior National Kickboxing Federation Cup 2017-18 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

Warjri lamented that it would be difficult for the association and its participants to reach Venice without logistic, infrastructural and financial support from stakeholders and the State Government.

He also added that MSKA got the opportunity to participate in Anapa, Russia with five representatives in May-June, 2018, but unfortunately missed due to paucity of funds and financial assistance and lack of sponsors.
