The site was inspected by chief minister, Conrad Sangma, transport minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, urban affairs minister, Hamletson Dohling along with officers from various departments, according to reports.

The chief minister was of the view that the government was hunting for a piece of land and with this land belonging to the transport department, the government could save lots of money which would have incurred in buying land and developing it for the purpose.

The chief minister further said that work will start in a month and in the entry point, a facilitation centre will be set up.

Setting up of entry/exit points under the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016 demanded by some pressure groups are part of the comprehensive mechanisms to check influx into the State.
