Two persons from Manipur, Haobijam Surjit and Karam Tania will take part in a one-year global peace march from Delhi to Geneva which will start from October 2 next.

According to reports, the peace march known as Jai Jagat 2020 will start from New Delhi on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The objective behind the global peace march is to discuss topics such as eradication of poverty, social inclusion, climate justice and non-violent resolution of conflicts in different places along the way in addition to Geneva.

Participants of Jai Jagat 2020 will travel a distance of 14000 km through 10 countries before arriving in Geneva.

A total of 200 participants from India and 50 from other countries will be taking part in the global peace march.

Out of the total 365 days of the march, 121 days will be covered in India and the rest of the 244 days in other countries.

After the participants of the global peace march reach Geneva, they will take part in a number of workshops, advocacy meeting and cultural events for a week.

The week-long event in Geneva will commenced on September 26, 2020 and end on October 2, 2020.

It is expected that the discussions and lessons imparted through Jai Jagat 2020 will benefit a large number of people across the world.
