Manipur government made a special effort in lifting and distribution of PDS rice allocated for April 2020 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) scheme and Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) for several Assembly Constituencies(AC) in the state.

In Churachandpur district, 1192.25 quintal of rice for Thanlon (Mualnuam)- 375.75 quintal and Henglep 816.50 quintal under PMGKAY was lifted today. In Pherzawl district, 630 quintals of rice under PMGKAY and 42.6 quintals of OMSS rice for Vangai Range of Tipaimukh AC and 446.8 and 585.5 quintal of rice under PMGKAY and OMSS for Thanlon AC were lifted today, according to official sources.

In Thoubal district, 1007.7 quintals of rice under PMGKAY and 205.975 quintals of OMSS rice for Lilong AC and 83 quintals of OMSS rice for Wangjing Tentha AC were lifted today.

While 1007.7 quintal and 2020.50 quintals of rice under PMGKAY were distributed to the beneficiaries of Lilong AC and Thoubal AC. 205.975 quintal, 479.95 quintals and 83 quintals of OMSS rice were also distributed to the beneficiaries of Lilong AC, Thoubal AC and Wangjing Tentha AC respectively, sources said.

For Tamei AC in Tamenglong district, 300 quintals of OMSS rice was lifted from FCI godown, Sangaiprou today.

It also added that a total of 5539.35 quintals of rice under PMGKAY, 3335.2 quintals for Kangpokpoi AC and 2204.15 quintals for Saitu AC in Kangpokpi district were lifted on 23.04.2020. For Fair Price Shop in Kangpokpi district, PMGKAY and OMSS rice were also lifted yesterday which includes, Kangpokpi Sub-Division-1371.35 quintal, Bungte Chiru Sub-Division-451.4 quintal, Geljang Sub-Divison-898.75 quintal and Saitu-Gamphazawl Sub-Division- 854.1 quintals.

In Imphal West district, under PMGKAY scheme, a total of 914.78 quintals of rice including 86.9 quintals for Singjamei AC, 120.53 quintals for Patsoi AC, 587.7 quintals for Sekmai, Saitu AC, 8.2 quintals for Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, 67.87 quintals for Langthabal AC, 43.58 quintals for Mayang Imphal AC were lifted today.

Till 5 pm of Friday, 18,646 stranded persons were provided with ration such as rice, dal, salt and cooking oil by District Administration, Imphal West.

The state government is fully geared up to meet the challenge of positioning a large number of food grains in every district of the state despite the ongoing lockdown to contain the outbreak of COVID-19.
