A Shramik Special train from Delhi with 1,600 stranded residents of Manipur arrived at Jiribam Railway Station on Friday at 1.35 pm.

The train was departed on May 25 from Delhi railway station, said an official statement.

On the other hand, Gurgaon Shramik Special train ferrying 1375 passengers had also arrived at the Jiribam Railway Station at 9.50 on Thursday.

All returnees who left Jiribam after necessary medical formalities will remain in isolation at the community quarantine centres, sources said.

These passengers were stranded due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain Covid19 pandemic, it added.

The state registered four more COVID 19 positive cases taking the state’s total case to 59.

The new cases have admitted in the Covid care facility at RIMS, sources said.

It also informed that all necessary control measures like containment and contact tracing are in place as per the first press release of covid-19 common control room.

With the new confirmed cases, the total number of positive cases in the state has increased to 59 and after discharge of the two from RIMS, the number of active cases now stands at 52, according to second press release.

Committee formed:

In a bid to spread awareness among the public on COVID-19 pandemic, a joint committee along with representatives from different civil society organizations of the state was formed in Manipur.

The joint committee was constituted with MLA Th Satyabrata of Yaiskul assembly constituency as convener and Assembly deputy speaker K Robindro and MLA H Dingo of Sekmai assembly constituency as co-conveners.

The committee will facilitate greater awareness amongst clubs, women organizations, civil society organisations and the public on measures laid down by competent authorities for containing the COVID-19 pandemic, for their effective implementation, sources said.
