Imphal: In a concerted effort to stabilize the region, security forces in Manipur have conducted a series of coordinated search operations and area domination exercises, resulting in significant seizures of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials across several districts.

The operations, which targeted vulnerable areas in both the hill and valley districts, led to the discovery and confiscation of a variety of weapons and explosives.

Among the most notable recoveries was in Changsang mid-hill, Imphal East, where security personnel seized a .32 pistol with a magazine, a country-made 12-bore rifle, a single-bore rifle, and a catapult gun.

In addition, they recovered five Pompi live rounds, 56 rounds of live ammunition, 71 empty cases, four tube launchers, and other military items.

In a separate operation at Moltinchan village in Kakching District, the forces uncovered three smoke bombs, five stun shells, two tear smoke shells, five CS smoke shells, two grenades without detonators, and several firearms, including two single-barrel guns and a locally-made small pipe gun.

The most substantial find took place at Yairipok Gwarok Hill in Thoubal District, where security forces seized a 5.56 mm INSAS rifle with a magazine, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, a .32 pistol, five HE-36 hand grenades, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 7.94 kg, and 25 live ammunition rounds.

These operations are part of an ongoing effort to enhance security and prevent violence in the region, which has seen tensions rise in recent months.

Security forces continue to maintain a heightened presence in these areas to deter further unrest and ensure the safety of the local population.
