As part of the ongoing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state, the Manipur police continues to crackdown on violators of lockdown and state’s curfew.
“During the drive today, 374 violators were detained along with 219 vehicles,” additional director general (L/O) of police L Kailun stated in a press release on Thursday.
“They were produced before the Magistrate and fine of Rs 13,100 was collected,” he also stated.
Police have appealed to the public to follow the advice and guidelines issued by the government and stay indoors for their own safety and safety of the public.
He said those who came to purchase essential are requested not to use vehicles to maintain social distances.
The police department wills continue to enforce the lockdown/curfew strictly in the days to come, it said.
In the day’s crackdown, the Thoubal district police teams detained 85 persons for violating lockdown restrictions, district police sources said.
The said persons were produced before the Executive Magistrates, it said.
Similarly the Imphal East district police teams detained 108 vehicles for violating the lock down imposed in the state, the district police said.
A sum of Rs 10,800 was collected as fine and the same has been handed over to concerned Magistrate, it added.
On the other hand, Bishnupur district police detained 67 persons and 48 vehicles at different locations of the district as a part of the ongoing measures against curfew/ lockdown violators, according to reports received here.
31 violators were produced before the SDM and bound down. A total of Rs 5,200 was collected as fine.
At the same time the Churachandpur district police also detained a total number of 98 persons including 88 males and 92 vehicles including 73 two wheelers, 17 four wheelers and 2 three wheelers for violation of Lockdown and non-possession of necessary passes, district police source said.
All the detained persons were later released on PR Bond and Bail Bond along with the seized vehicles following proper briefing, verification and strict warning.
