A new block of the Yambem High School at Yairipok Yambem, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East was inaugurated on Sunday. Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Keirao MLA L Rameshwor and DC Imphal East district Th Chitra Devi attended the school building inauguration function.

The building has been constructed under the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) project of Ministry of Minority and Other Backward Classes, Government of India and implemented by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Imphal East. 100-bedded girl’s hostel of the school is under-construction, also constructed under the MsDP project.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shyamkumar said, the new block of the school was completed ahead of its deadline because he believes that education needs to be imparted in time to the students.

He also appreciated Imphal East District Administration for their quick response and timely action during developmental projects. He also appreciated the School Management Development Committee (Schools of Yambem, Block-B&C) for felicitating the retired and present teachers of the school.

Keirao MLA L Rameshwor Meitei, in his presidential speech said the Andro constituency is highly advanced in the education sector. He advised the students to dedicate their life for the development of the State.

In her speech DC Chitra said the efforts and dedication of local MLA, Minister Shyamkumar and school management development committee helped in quick completion of the building ahead of its target time.

DC Chitra gave her best wishes to the students of Class X appearing for board examination, she expressed the teachers need to impart education to the students through modern training methods.

The school management development committee also submitted a memorandum which included working on getting full-fledged status for the school, appointment of additional teachers and requirement for a school ground. The school was established in 1965.
