Manipur’s first COVID-19 infected patient, Vimi Ningombam of Imphal, has been discharged from hospital on Sunday after her recovery.
Sharing a picture of Ningombam returning home on his Twitter handle, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh thanked all the doctors and staff members of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), where she was treated.
“Thank GOD Folded hands Thanks to all the Drs and staffs of JNIMS Folded hands. The first COVID-19 infected Girl miss VIMI Ningombam of Imphal has been discharged from hospital today. Let’s stay safe, let’s stay at Home Folded hands,” the Manipur CM tweeted.

Ningombam was tested negative for COVID-19 for the second time on April 6 after being treated at JNIMS.
Manipur registered two COVID-19 patients. The second patient has been undergoing treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
Admitting the talents and potential of the doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs of the state, the chief minister recently expressed his gratitude over the team for their tireless work.
He also announced that the state government was actively considering cash incentives or awards to those who are working in the frontline.
After testing negative for the virus for the second time, JNIMS authority said the patient would be discharged soon.
The director of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Dr Th Bhimo, in Imphal shared the information on April 6.
As per the guidelines laid down by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the recovered patient can be discharged.
Manipur registered the first COVID-19 positive case on March 24 while the second positive case was confirmed on April 2.
The first COVID-19 positive case was a returnee from London.
