The COVID-19 situation in Manipur continues to be grim. 

As many as eight COVID-19 deaths were recorded in Manipur on Sunday. 

With eight more deaths, Manipur’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 1196. 

Meanwhile, the State has logged 643 new COVID-19 positive cases. 

Among the fresh 643 new cases, 637 are from the general public and six from the central paramilitary forces deployed in the State.

Imphal West reported the highest number of cases with 242, followed by Imphal East (145), Thoubal (76), Churachandpur (65), Bishnupur (58), Kangpokpi (13), Kakching (10), Chandel (15), Ukhrul (5), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (2) and Jiribam (2).  

With the detection of the 643 new cases, Manipur’s active cases tally rose to 6159. 

Meanwhile, 602 people also recovered from the deadly virus during the last 24 hours. 

Manipur’s current COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 89.82 per cent.
