Manipur: Police modernisation gets boost, Rs 80 crore spent

Imphal: In a bid to enhance law and order in the state, the Manipur government has made significant investments in modernizing its police force.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that Rs 80 crore has been expended in the last financial year, with an additional Rs 2,900 crore proposed for the upcoming financial year, subject to central government approval.

Rs 500 crore was allocated to modernize and strengthen state forces in the current financial year.

Around 40 bulletproof light motor vehicles and 10 mine protection vehicles were acquired to maintain law and order.

Along with this Rs 2,900 crore proposal submitted to the Centre for police modernization, is expected to be approved soon.

Rs 40.5 crore was allocated by the centre to modernize the Manipur Fire Service Department.
