Imphal: A 34-year-old woman was killed after a motorcycle she was travelling on as a pillion was allegedly hit by a tanker truck in Imphal, Manipur.

The deceased was identified as Laishram Mamata.

She lost her life after a water tanker collision on Bir Tikendrajit Road, Imphal.

The incident occurred around 7 pm near the main gate of the Congress office.

Mamata, who was riding pillion on a motorcycle, bore the brunt of the impact when the water tanker struck the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses reported she sustained severe injuries, including critical head trauma, after being crushed under the tanker’s wheels.

Lembo Heisnam (25), the motorcycle rider, escaped the accident with minor injuries.

Following the incident, police apprehended the water tanker driver and registered a case at the City Police Station.

State forensic experts arrived at the scene to conduct an inquest, aiding in further legal proceedings.

Mamata, a resident of Liwa Road Naorem Leikai, Imphal, was rushed to Raj Medicity, a private hospital, but succumbed to her injuries en route.
