Imphal: Over 1,000 flood victims, including women and children, received essential medical attention and medication on the first day of medical relief camps held in Imphal, Manipur on Sunday.
These dedicated camps are operating at the Mother Teresa Home Relief Camp near Mantripukhri and the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Imphal West district.
The floods, which occurred from May 29th to June 1st, 2024, severely impacted Imphal West, affecting an estimated 80,000 people. The medical camps offer crucial short-term medical services to victims residing in relief camps, who may struggle to access regular healthcare.

“Doctors at the camps are primarily addressing issues like sore throat, upset stomach, and vomiting,” reported medical personnel. So far, the team has screened over 1,000 flood victims, including 464 women and 116 children, providing them with necessary medical attention and essential medicines.

In response to the devastating floods, the Assam Rifles has stepped forward to provide vital medical assistance to Imphal residents. Their swift action demonstrates their commitment to the well-being of those affected by the disaster.
The medical camp serves as a beacon of hope, offering displaced individuals not only medical care but also a sense of security and support during this challenging time.
Beyond medical care, the Assam Rifles have also installed a mobile toilet specifically for women residing in the Mantripukhri relief camp, addressing a critical sanitation and hygiene need.
