Imphal: A dispute between two members of a family in Manipur’s Imphal West District resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man on Monday.

According to police, Naorem Joychandra was involved in a heated argument with his 35-year-old son, Naorem Tarunjit, at their residence in Khaidem Awang Leikai.

The incident, which occurred around 11:00 pm, is believed to have been exacerbated by alcohol consumption by both parties.

Following the altercation, Joychandra sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility.

Due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal. Sadly, Joychandra succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.

“An investigation is underway. Naorem Tarunjit has been apprehended, and the weapon believed to be involved in the incident has been recovered. A case has been registered, and further details will be released as they become available,” said a police official.
