A fire broke out in a forest surrounding the Sangaithel and Khoken villages in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
However, the firefighters of the state fire service were prompt to respond and avert a major tragedy by extinguishing the forest fire.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has appealed to all citizens of the state to remain vigilant against any forest fire that causes extreme damage to the state’s ecology.
“Glad to learn that a major tragedy was averted due to timely intervention of Manipur Fire Service in stopping a devastating forest fire in Sangaithel & Khoken village in Kangpokpi District. Requesting everyone to be cautious about our extremely vulnerable environment in Manipur,” N Biren Singh tweeted.

The devastating fire in the Dzuko Valley in Manipur and Nagaland in January this year had damage to a considerable species of plant life.
It took about 10 days to quell the devastating fire in the valley.
The collaborative efforts of the National Disaster Response Force teams, army personnel, firefighters and the state police force of both states helped in curbing the massive fire.
