Manipur is the only state which has done hundred percent screening of all domestic air passengers, state chief secretary Dr J Suresh Babu said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference in Imphal, chief secretary Babu said that the state government have screened 2, 02,130 people entering by air or road since January 18.

The government of Manipur has sealed the international border with Myanmar much ahead of order by centre on March 10.

Principal Secretary (Health) Vumlunmang Vualnam also present during the press conference.

Highlighting the ongoing steps taken up by the state government to contain and control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, Suresh Babu said the state government established 92 institutional quarantine centres with 3225 bed capacity.

In addition 102 more centres are identified as standby with a capacity of 5,187.

Two Covid treatment blocks are also established at JNIMS and RIMS hospitals with total bed capacity of 100 including 20 for Intensive Care Units, he said.

Isolation wards are established in each district hospital.

Stating that state government is committed to bring people back people stranded outside the state safely to their home, he said those who would like to come by special trains will have to register themselves in official website (www.tengbang.in) to facilitate organising trains and working out logistics.

The government of the originating state has to make most of the arrangements in consultation with the railways.

Nodal officers of the state government are also interacting with their counterparts of the originating governments.

On the essential goods and civil supplies, he also expressed that government has ensured regular supply of all essential commodities and required trucks are coming from outside the State to meet the necessary supply.

The Chief Secretary is coordinating with the Chief Secretaries of other states to ensure smooth movement of trucks.

The lifting of rice for the month of May has just started. In order to facilitate timely lifting, the State government recently deposited Rs 5 crores from a Corpus fund with CAF & PD department.

Strict monitoring is put in place and the Deputy Commissioners are made responsible.
