Manipur Assam: Mid-day meal cook murdered inside school by brother-in-law

Imphal: On the fifth day of the frequent bombardments accompanied by gunshots and trading of firings at the hotspot of tri-districts – Kakching, Chandel, and Churachandpur in Manipur an elderly part-time hotelier died of suspected hypertension on Sunday, officials said.

With the death of Moiranthem Nandakumar, 60, at around 10 am on Sunday, the fifth day of the frequent exchanges of firing between two groups, altogether, four elderly persons lost their lives due to the suspected high blood pressure.

On the first day of the bloody actions, three elderly women namely, Khaidem Achoubi (74), Laishram Dashumati Devi (60), and Thongam Chaoba Devi (80) all from Sugnu village died of hypertension, officials said.

Moiranthem Nandakumar a resident of Sugnu Moiranghtem Leikai ward number 3 was a part-time hotelier at Sugnu Bazaar.

On the first day of the violent actions with the bombardments at the Sugnu bazaar from the Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages in Churachandpur and Chandel Districts, M Nandakumar was in a state of shock.

On Sunday, the Sugnu villagers witnessed bombardments 15 times at their localities. In the high voltage sound of explosives, M Nandakumar died of high blood pressure, the official added.
