Imphal: Security forces launched search operations in Manipur‘s Churachandpur district and recovered fake currency notes, a huge cache of arms and ammunition and explosives.

The recoveries were made at two different locations of the district bordering Myanmar on the south in massive operations carried out by a joint team of the central and Manipur forces during the past 24 hours, police said on Sunday.

In the first operation launched at the outskirts of D Haolenjang village bordering D Moljang village, Churachandpur district the joint team seized six denominations of Rs. 200 Fake Currency notes amounting to Rs. 1200, three Locally- made Single Barrel Guns, one pistol, two 9mm ammunition, two Country improvised long-range heavy mortars, one tear gas gun, one tear smoke shell soft nose, two tear smoke shell (CS), and one bag.

In the follow-up actions in the general area Moljang village in the same district, one 303 Rifle with magazine, one 9mm pistol with magazine, eight numbers of single barrel, one.22mm pistol with magazine, one 9mm CMG (carbine machine gun) with magazine, eight nos of gelatine stick, fifty-two nos of 7.62 mm amn of 303 rifles, and one icom radio set were recovered.

The recovered items were handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal actions, police added.
