The State Bank of India (SBI) will donate medical equipment worth Rs 1 crore to the Manipur government to facilitate proper management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

SBI officials on Wednesday handed over an ambulance to the state government in the presence of Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh in Imphal.

Moreover, the state also recently received 50 oxygen concentrators from the Union health ministry, which were donated by the New Delhi chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society.

The rapidly rising number of Covid-19 infections has become a major cause of concern for the Manipur government.

A total of 748 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Manipur on Tuesday.

The virus claimed 12 more lives in the state on Tuesday, taking the total death toll to 908.

The total number of positive cases in the state is 56,578.

A 200-bedded Covid hospital is also coming up at Imphal soon, which will greatly help in the treatment of the critically ill Covid-19 patients.
