The abducted workers were ultimately found and rescued near the Imphal East district police station around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Imphal: Four migrant workers were rescued by Manipur police after being abducted at gunpoint by a group of unidentified individuals near Phaknung village in Imphal East district on Monday night.

The abducted workers, three from Bihar and one from Uttar Pradesh, were unloading pipes from a truck at a warehouse in Phaknung village in Manipur when they were forcefully taken by armed individuals in a silver Eeco van around 4 p.m. They were driven towards Moirangkampu in the same district.

Upon receiving the abduction report, a joint team of Imphal West and Imphal East district police initiated a large-scale rescue operation in Nongmaiching hills and surrounding areas starting at approximately 7 p.m.

The abducted workers were ultimately found and rescued near the Imphal East district police station around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

The rescued migrant workers have been identified as Pramod Prajapati (35), Kishore Rai (36), Umesh Rai (34) from Bihar, and Rajkumar (42) from Uttar Pradesh, according to police.
