Manipur Congress has lodged a complaint with Imphal police against the BJP youth wing president and other party workers for their alleged involvement in mob violence.

MPCC general secretary Hareshwar Goswami alleged that around 20 to 30 members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) led by president Barish Sharma stormed the party office in Imphal on Thursday evening.

They attacked the main gate of the MPCC with deadly weapons like sticks, stones and unidentified tools around 5 pm, said the MPCC president, said the state Congress president.

He alleged that the members of the BJYM kicked, punched and pushed the youth Congress and NSUI office-bearers standing at the office gate while shouting unparliamentarily and using provocative slogans.

They also torched effigies of our national leaders in front of the MPCC office, he said.

A day after the security breach incident of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Punjab, the BJYM members staged a protest in front of the Congress party office in Imphal on Thursday.

During the protest, they burnt effigies of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
