A meeting of Manipur consultative committee for COVID-19 was held at chief minister’s secretariat in Imphal on Saturday.
Chief minister N Biren Singh himself chaired the meeting.
Confirming this, Biren Singh in a facebook post said,”In our continuous effort to check the spread of COVID-19 in the State, another meeting of the State Consultative Committee for COVID-19 was held at my office today.”
Stating that the eminent members expressed their satisfaction to the efforts of the COVID-19 Rapid Response Team and all the frontline warriors in checking the dreaded virus from spreading to the community, the post also read, “With the valuable advice and suggestions from the ministers, MLAs, intellectuals, HoDs and other members of the committee, the State Government has been able to contain the virus. Thank you all, and Pl.keep supporting the State Government in our collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Meanwhile, the state on Saturday recorded a total of 91 new cases of COVID-19 during testing in the last 24 hours.
The 91 cases including 82 male and nine females at VRDLs of RIMS (16), JNIMS (63), District Hospitals of Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (8) and Ukhrul (1), said the state Health department in a press release.
They belong the districts of Imphal West (3), Bishnupur (3), Kangpokpi (63), Kamjong (6), Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (12) and Ukhrul (4).
The 63 persons from Kangpokpi district are personnel of CRPF training centre, Kangpokpi and the three persons from Imphal West district are Army personnel from Leimakhong Garrison, said the press release.
They have recently joined their duty after leave.
They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the release said.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the past 24 hours, 19 persons have been discharged from COVID care centres at Meitram (6), Thoubal (1), Kamjong (7) and COVID care facilities of RIMS (3) and JNIMS (2) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.
Thus the cumulative number of positive cases in the State is 1,891.
The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 709 and 1182 respectively.
The recovery rate is 62.50 per cent.
