Addressing the people on the occasion of Patriots’ Day on Tuesday in Imphal, Manipur CM N Biren Singh expressed concern over the presence of Rohingya in the state.

“Efforts should be made to identify the people who are facilitating their entry and providing them shelter in the state,” Singh said.

The CM was referring to the arrest of six Rohingya from the Tulihal International Airport in Imphal on Saturday.

The arrested persons arrived in the state from New Delhi with forged documents.

“It indicates that many of them are taking shelter in Manipur and we have to find out the persons who are behind their illegal entry from different places,” added Singh.

He further urged the locals to trace Rohingya and those helping their illegal entry to the state.

Singh said if the illegal entry of the Rohingya is not checked, then the “already shrinking” Manipuri population would soon cease to exist.
