Major Paona Brajabashi Best NCC Boy Cadet Award and Rani Gaidinliu Best NCC Girl Cadet Award for 2019-20 have been awarded to CUO Nongmaithem Bunty and Mayanglambam Menita Devi, a PIB release informed on Sunday.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh presented the awards during the 74th Independence Day celebration in Imphal on Saturday.

Major Paona Brajabashi Best NCC Boy Cadet Award winner CUO Nongmaithem Bunty is the son of Amutombi and Ranjana Devi of Sagoltongba Mayai Leikai, Imphal West.

He is a cadet of 1 Manipur Air Sqn NCC of NCC Group Imphal.

In 2018, he qualified for the Inter-Group Competition (IGC) – a state-level event.

Thereafter, he was selected to represent NCC North Eastern Region Directorate at the Republic Day Camp at New Delhi in 2019.

The cadet completed Basic Skiing Course at Gulmarg with Alpha Grading.

He has also participated in various Centrally Organised Camps like Basic Leadership Camp at Agartala in 2018, Air Force Attachment Camp at Guwahati in 2019, Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat camp at Delhi and Combined Annual Training Camp held at Imphal.

He passed the NCC ‘B’ Certificate exam with Alpha Grading. The cadet also aspires to become an Officer in the Indian Air Force.

Rani Gaidinliu Best NCC Girl Cadet Award winner Cadet Mayanglambam Menita Devi is the daughter of Somorendro Singh and Sumita Devi of Iroisemba ManingLeikai Imphal West.

She is a cadet of 1 Manipur Air Sqn NCC of NCC Group Imphal. In 2018, she qualified for the Inter-Group Competition (IGC) – a state-level event.

Thereafter, she was selected to represent NCC North Eastern Region Directorate at the Republic Day Camp at New Delhi in 2019.

The cadet has also participated in various Centrally Organised Camps like Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat at Delhi in 2019 and Combined Annual Training Camp held at Imphal.

The cadet passed NCC ‘B’ Certificate exam with Alpha Grading.

She worked as a peer educator (volunteer work) of Harm reduction program (drug awareness programme) under SASO, CPLI project.

She aspires to become an Officer in the Indian Air Force.

Both the cadets are from DM College of Science, Imphal. Both the cadets were presented with Honour Plates, Certificates of Merit and Rs 25,000 each, the release added.
