Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested three individuals allegedly affiliated with insurgent groups in separate operations conducted over the past 48 hours.

In the first instance, police apprehended an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Lamyanba Khuman) from Imphal West.

Identified as Thokchom Iboyaima Singh, the individual was allegedly involved in extorting money from local businessmen and residents.

Police recovered three mobile phones, over Rs. 8,200 in cash, an identity card, and a four-wheeled vehicle from his possession.

A case has been registered for further investigation.

Secondly, security forces operating in the Kamjong district bordering Myanmar arrested two members of the outlawed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup.

One of the apprehended individuals, identified as Angom Thoiba Meitei alias Pari, hails from the Kakching district.

The third individual is reportedly minor.

The police have registered cases against both individuals and are conducting further inquiries.
