The 94th birth anniversary of RK Maipaksana was organised by the RK Maipaksana Memorial Trust Imphal at the Lamyanba Shanglen Auditorium located at Palace Compound in Imphal on Thursday. RK Maipaksana was a renowned and respected journalist of Manipur.

RK Maipaksana Memorial Trust sponsored Journalist Fellowship was also presented to former Editor Manindra Konsam of Sanathong, a monthly, during the day’s anniversary observation function which was presided by the former Director of Audio Visual Research Centre, Manipur University, Dr Lokendra Arambam.

As part of the programme, the former Principal of DM College of Commerce Dr Okram Kumar Singh delivered a lecture on the topic – ‘Peopling of Manipur and some Historical Facts for the Consolidation of the State’.

In his write-up on the said topic, Dr Kumar said that peopling of Manipur began since the prehistoric Stone Age. Later, Dr M Kriti, Dr Thongbam Nanjesh and RK Bidur briefly participated in the discussion session which was followed by comment and observation by Dr Lokendra Arambam based on Dr Kumar’s speech.

A 34-page souvenir which features a number of valuable articles by eminent writers including Dr M Kriti and Shantikumar Moirangthem, was also released. The people who attended the gathering along with the family members and well-wishers of Late RK Maipaksana also paid floral tributes to Late Maipaksana.
