Manipur Assam: Police arrest 13 after forest camp vandalised in Nagaon

Imphal: Manipur police in its dedicated efforts to curb extortion campaigns, arrested one active member of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) in Imphal on Friday, officials said.

Police have increasingly targeted the KCP groups and a total of four active cadres of the KCP factions were arrested with the recovery of arms, ammo, and money in cash during the past five days.

The Friday’s arrest was a part of the Manipur police’s heightening crackdown against three different factions of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) in the past few days in the valley areas, the police said.

The police arrested one active member of the proscribed outfit KCP (PWG) identified as Md. Nawaz Khan (26) of Thoubal from Imphal West District on Friday.

He was involved in the extortion of money from Pharmacy Shops in the Imphal area.

One mobile phone and one wallet were recovered from his possession, the police said.

On Thursday, police also arrested two cadres of proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP — Taibanganba) named Yumnam Arvind, Mangangcha Singh (21) and Oinam Rakesh Meitei along with Chingshangamba (20) and recovered two mobile handsets, two Aadhaar cards, Rs 3370 in cash, and a four-wheeler car.

On Tuesday, Thokchom Iboyaima Singh (42) @ Boyai, an active cadre of the proscribed KCP — (Lamyanba Khuman) was also arrested from an area of Imphal West. 

He was also involved in monetary demands to several businessmen and the general public.
