Governor of Manipur, Dr Najma Heptulla has wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba which falls on October 10.

The Governor in her message, said the traditional festival of Mera Choaren Houba, a festival for preserving and promoting unity and integrity amongst all the communities settled in Manipur is celebrated on the advent Mera-tha (month of September- October).

This festival through the ages has withstood the test of time and has become a rallying point for the State’s unity and integrity.

“I would like to appeal to all to celebrate this festival in its true spirit, upholding the tradition of peaceful co-existence in Manipur’s pluralistic society,” the Governor stated in the message.

“I hope that his festival will strengthen the bond of unity, integrity and understanding among the different communities so that peace and prosperity may prevail in the State,” the Governor added.

State Chief Minister, N Biren Singh in his message expressed that Mera Choaren Houba heralds the advent of Mera Tha, the seventh month in the Meitei lunar calendar.

“The month reminds us the age-old inseparable bond of love and brotherhood amongst different communities residing in our State,” Biren stated in his message to the people of the State.

“May this festival further strengthen the bond for a more harmonious peaceful and prosperous Manipur, the message from the Chief Minister further stated.
