A women society based in Manipur’s Ningthoukhong town was awarded the Swachhata Excellence Award by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Chaokhat Lup Women Development Society, Ningthoukhong is the only body from a locality in the State which has been chosen for the award as ‘area-level federation’ (ALF) by a three-member committee at the national level.
The award was given in recognition of the exemplary work in the field of sanitation and cleanliness during the year 2017-18.
The third prize of the award consisting of a cash award of Rs 50,000, a certificate and a memento was conferred to the President Kh Ibemchaubi and Secretary Kh Pramo of Chaokhat Lup Women Development Society, Ningthoukhong by the officials of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs during a national workshop in New Delhi on March 23.
Chaokhat Lup Women Development Society functionaries were accorded a warm welcome when they returned at their hometown, 30 km south of Imphal after receiving the award at Ningthoukhong Municipal Council on Saturday.
