Imphal: A joint team of the central and state forces seized a cache of arms, explosives, and ammunition from the jungle of Manipur’s Thoubal district on Wednesday, an official statement said.
Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Phungrei in Thoubal district of Manipur, the team launched a joint search on Wednesday (March 20).
Using metal detectors and sniffer dogs, the team recovered one INSAS Rifle, two grenades, one grenade Launching Tube, and ammunition.
The operation was jointly carried out by a combined team of Special Operation Group of Thoubal police and a column of 33 Assam Rifles using metal detectors on receiving inputs that some miscreants were storing some arms, ammunition, and explosive items in the jungle of Phungrei village.
The items were seized by observing necessary formalities at around 8 am and the same have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal formalities, the statement added.
